Cal Jader is one of the musical activists, founders and original ‘dancehall caballeros’ behind Movimientos and Love Carnival. With his trademark blend of red hot ‘classico’ latin beats, uptempo carnival rhythms, tropical bass, and fresh global sounds he is helping to soundtrack London’s alternative club scene with regular sets across the capital, the UK and Europe.
Cal has played at clubs and festivals around the globe as far a field as Mexico City, Beirut, Bogota, Kuala Lumpar and Istanbul as well as touring Brazil in Rio, Salvador, Brasilia and at carnival in Recife. In the UK he’s played everywhere from countless festivals like Bestival and Glastonbury and The Secret Garden Party, and has shared stages with world class live acts like Manu Chao, Bomba Estereo and Quantic. In last couple of years he’s been a regular on the tropical scene around Europe regularly playing in Paris, Barcelona, Lisbon and Berlin as well as closing WOMAD in Fuerteventura amongst others.
As the co-founder of London’s cultural protagonists and now record label Movimientos he is championing the new wave of latin, tropical and global music in the UK and they are one of the most active event promoters in the UK with regular gigs, club nights and film screenings all over London.
