XYM is a conscious rapper originally from Halifax, West Yorkshire and now based in London. He’s an old school hip-hop artist and true lyricist. He’s released eight albums independently and has had radio play on various stations including BBC 1xtra and Suspect Package’s radio show. He has also been a special guest artist for Itch FM, Resonance FM and for I Am Hip Hop’s radio show. He’s gigged extensively around the UK, mostly in London, and has performed three times in Hamburg. He’s also an actor and script writer. He won a sitcom writing competition with the BBC and his hip-hop musical Up North is going to be produced by Maya Productions, in a co-production with Harrogate Theatre. XYM was commissioned by the National Army Museum to write a track called West India Regiment which was produced by Swiss producer AL Music. XYM’s latest EP is called Northern Connection and was produced by Noisiboi who will be DJing for him at Citadel. XYM has had a track about David Rocastle called Rocky admitted into the Black Cultural Archives and he recently made a video for his song Can’t Sleep which was shot on location is Switzerland.
